The full instrument

The Factory Walk Sheet.

Every item we score, standing on your floor. Seven stations, 45 items, 225 points. Public, so nobody has to wonder what we look for.

This is the sheet in our hands during the walk: one visit, 60 to 90 minutes, on the floor. Every item below gets a score from 0 to 5 against written anchors, plus notes and photos. No self-reported claims.

For factory owners: nothing here requires certifications, English, or export history to start. A low score on any item does not take you off the list. It goes on your fix list, in priority order, and the sheet is yours to keep either way.

The bones of this instrument come from a production-floor audit standard used in American precision manufacturing, adapted item by item to the sewing floor.

Anchored scoring, every item:

Recorded, not scored

Numbers we record, not grade.

Not everything on the walk gets a 0 to 5. Price and speed are not qualities, they are facts of fit: the right answer depends on the buyer. So we record them, verify them where records exist, and share them with buyers as ranges and fit filters, never as a public list.

Commercials

  • CMT or full package: who sources the fabric
  • Price band by product type, from real quotes
  • Minimums per style and per color
  • Payment terms and deposit expectations

Timeline

  • Sample turnaround, in days
  • Materials lead time: fabric and trims to the floor
  • Production lead time per 1,000 units
  • Steps that leave the building (printing, embroidery, laundry) and the days each adds
  • Door to door shipping time to the United States

Track record

  • On-time delivery rate, stated and checked against records
  • Open capacity and shift structure, seen on the floor
  • Current clients and references, with permission

Buyers see these as bands and filters through WestOS. A factory’s exact prices are its own business and stay that way.

After the walk

The score is the start, not the verdict.

45 items, 225 possible points, one readiness level: not ready yet, needs work, introduction-ready, or show condition.

The walk ends with a fix list: the top 10 priorities, in order, written on the sheet. The factory keeps the full sheet and the fix list, free, whether or not it ever sells through WestOS.

The full sheet stays private to the factory. Buyers see ranges and verified claims, never a factory’s raw numbers.
